  • Private mode: Your questions and answers are stored on your device and are completely inaccessible to us
  • Limited content monitoring occurs primarily through automated systems for abuse prevention purposes (such as detecting harmful content or violations of our terms of service).
  • Staff may access data for system maintenance, troubleshooting, or with your explicit permission.
  • If used for research purposes, all data is thoroughly anonymized to protect your privacy.

All anonymous readings (without account login) automatically use private mode, storing everything locally on your device. Questions are processed through our standard automated harm reduction pipeline, but responses and conversation history remain entirely on your device with zero server storage.

Welcome to QChing. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our quantum I Ching consultation service.

2. Information We Collect

  • Email address (for account creation and communication)
  • Authentication data (password, encrypted)
  • Cryptographic hashes of readings (for sharing functionality)
  • Device fingerprint (browser and hardware characteristics for abuse prevention)
  • Usage data (I Ching readings, questions, and interactions with the app)

2.5. Automated Content Monitoring

We use automated systems to monitor content for violations of our terms of service, including detection of harmful content, illegal activities, or abuse. This monitoring helps ensure a safe environment for all users. Flagged content may be reviewed by our team for policy enforcement purposes.

2.6. AI Processing Privacy

All I Ching consultations are processed through privacy-focused AI providers that do not store, log, or use your queries for training purposes. Your questions and readings are processed in real-time without persistent storage on AI servers, ensuring your spiritual consultations remain completely private.

2.7. Abuse Prevention

We collect device characteristics to prevent abuse of free credits. These are hashed before storage and automatically deleted after one week. We cannot identify individual users from these hashes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Authenticate your account

  • Improve our services through analytics
  • Conduct scientific research (with your consent and in anonymized form)

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Canada Central through our service provider, Supabase. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

  • Private conversations are stored entirely on your device using IndexedDB - never stored or logged on our servers.
  • Private mode conversations cannot be synced across devices and remain on this device only.
  • We have zero access to private conversations - they exist only in your browser's local storage.
  • Clearing browser data will permanently delete private conversations.
  • Private mode maintains the same quantum quality as standard mode.
  • A cryptographic hash of your reading is stored for optional private chat syncing, but this hash cannot be reversed to reveal your question or answer.
  • Questions are processed through privacy-focused AI providers that do not store, log, or use your queries for training purposes.
  • All AI processing occurs in real-time without persistent storage on external AI servers.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data indefinitely unless you request deletion. You can delete specific readings directly through the app or request complete account deletion via your settings page.


  • IP Address Retention: IP Address Retention: For anonymous users, we retain a hashed version of your IP address for one week to prevent automated abuse of our free credit system. This hash cannot be used to identify you and is automatically deleted after one week. This is our legitimate interest in preventing system abuse while minimizing data collection.
  • Device Fingerprint Retention: Device Fingerprint Retention: We retain a hashed version of your device fingerprint for one week to prevent abuse of anonymous account creation. This hash cannot be used to identify you and is automatically deleted after one week.
  • Email Prevention System: Email Prevention System: When you delete your account, we retain a hashed version of your email address for 90 days to prevent abuse of our free credit system. This hash cannot be used to identify you and is automatically deleted after 90 days. This is our legitimate interest in preventing system abuse while respecting your right to deletion.

    • 9. International Data Transfers and Compliance

    Your data is processed and stored in Canada. By using QChing, you consent to this processing location. We comply with:

    • Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
    • EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
    • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

    For EU users: We process your data under legitimate interests or consent bases and store it in Canada which provides adequate data protection as recognized by the EU. You have additional rights including data portability and the right to be forgotten.

    10. Data Breach Procedures

    In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery via email and provide guidance on protecting your information.
